First, check that notifications are enabled: iPhone Settings → Notifications → Qum, with Allow Notifications on.
Without this, iOS blocks the alarm's lock-screen alert.
On a locked iPhone, Qum shows a loud, looping alarm notification rather than a full-screen takeover — Apple reserves the lock screen for its own alarms, so no third-party app can cover it.
Tap the notification and you'll land straight on the scan screen.
On Android, the full-screen alarm appears over the lock screen automatically.
That's the point — Qum stops when you scan the code you registered at your prayer spot.
If your code is genuinely unavailable (damaged sticker, camera blocked, you're not home), an emergency dismiss button appears after two minutes of ringing.
It always works.
Try more light, or tap the torch icon in the scanner.
If the sticker is creased or faded, register a fresh code — any QR code or barcode works, including one displayed on another screen.
You can register several codes and any of them will stop the alarm.
Open Settings and check three things: your location (tap "Use my current location", or set coordinates manually), your calculation method, and your madhab — Hanafi gives a noticeably later Asr than Shafi.
